Unisex T-Shirt Sizing

Unisex T-Shirt Sizing

Are you wondering what size shirt you should buy when you see Unisex T-Shirt?

Well, there is a short answer and a long answer.

Disclaimer - as the customer, you are responsible for purchasing the proper size shirt. Please make sure you review our return policy before ordering.

Short Answer

When you see Unisex T-Shirt, think two things: men’s size and slim fit.  What does that mean? In the case of ChemTees, our Unisex T’s are all “retail fit”.  So if you are a guy who typically buys slim fit T’s, just buy your regular size.

For women, the conversion for Men’s T’s to Women’s is one size down. So, if you wear a Women’s Medium you will wear a Unisex Small.  Women’s Large equals Unisex Medium.  To be sure though, we really do recommend you reference the sizing chart for the product you're considering.

If you are a guy who does not wear slim fit T’s you will likely want to buy a size, or even two, larger. Again, to be sure, we really do recommend you reference the sizing chart.

Long Answer

To be sure, we really do recommend you use the sizing chart.  Be aware, not all shirts fit the same. At ChemTees we include a sizing chart with each of our products. For our shirts we typically use the Bella+Canvas 3001, a premium tee. A sizing chart example is shown below.  We strongly recommend that you invest in a clothing tape measure to capture your measurements.

Working with your significant other to gather this information could turn out to be quite fun if done correctly.  But stay focused and get all the measurements before you pursue any “diversions”

  XS  XL  2XL  3XL  4XL
Width, in  16.50  17.99  20.00  22.01  24.02  25.98  27.99  30

Do the Shirts Shrink?

Of course. Any cotton shirt is going to shrink.  But, at ChemTees we use high quality shirts like the Bella+Canvas 3001.  Unlike those cheap souvenir T-shirts you buy at tourist locations that fit for about two washings, these shirts hold their size much longer.  At ChemTees we want to sell you more shirts, not the same shirt multiple times so we use the good stuff.

You can help your shirts to have a longer life by always washing in cold water and using either a low heat tumble dry, or ideally, and more planet friendly hang drying. We will have a more in-depth blog post on T shirt care in the near future.
